Tick…..Tock A Self-Inflicted Sentence, is a set of artworks, all using the form of a tally mark to represent the passing of time and counting down the days spent trapped inside an addiction.
All the tally marks are three-dimensional and clad in aluminium foil, which has been previously used to smoke heroin from, with the metallic appearance bearing a resemblance to the bars of a prison cell. Again, relating to the feeling of being incarcerated within an addiction.
“ I chose heroin to help me escape from the complexities of life, and ironically, and inevitably, it would become the very thing that imprisoned me.”
